Work With World Vision

While Peace Corps is a non-religious volunteer organization, working with diverse non-profit communities builds capacities and skills on many levels. World Vision, a Catholic organization works very closely with Peace Corps Volunteers across the globe and I was no exception. The organization is rooted in the country's values by hiring only native employees, only increasing their efficacy. I traveled with the organization to various village communities and schools building capacity and teaching people vital life skills. Working closely with the staff, coaching and an exchange of strategies enhanced both organizations' impact. I participated in many projects with the staff, but the most memorable were two summer camps, one for an impoverished community of "Roma" children and the other for aspiring young leaders.
