Behavioral Strategies: Professional Development

Much like science where every action has an equal and opposite reaction, behaviors displayed in the classroom have causes and origins from where they stem. Being able to manipulate one's own behaviors as a teacher is important in leading a classroom full of unpredictable behaviors from students. Alleviating possible variables in the classroom that might negatively affect the learning environment is integral in creating a safe classroom. Providing teachers and administration with professional development to hone behavioral strategies was a top priority throughout the entire district.
CHAMPs! and PBIS were the primary programs that were implemented on a school by school basis. Below is one out of many trainings devoted to improving the climate and culture of the classroom:
